Some things to consider:
- Would we need the second membership if we need it only for the trip? We will be traveling together.
- Will AAA Michigan coverage be the same in Mississippi? I am 99% sure that it is, but want to make sure.
- Does my car insurance company offer roadside assistance? Some do, some don't and I have never bothered to check if ours does.
- We could use the card for a discount at some of the places we will eat and the hotel.
- A family friend who helped move his son to Mississippi said that there are a few long stretches on the way where you can't get gas, and that he came too close for comfort to running out once.
- Even though we would buy it just for the trip, the coverage lasts a year.

Yes, it's worth it. It's good for an entire year, you don't always travel together, you can use it for other people's vehicle problems when you're in their car, and if you use it just once, it pays for itself. A tow can cost hundreds. The peace of mind is priceless. I never travel without it, and I pay for my kids' yearly cards too.
Yeah, Marty and I talked about it and we are going to do it. I just can't imagine a 900+ mile trip without it, you know?
insurance is peace of mind and nothing else
